Patriot or C-300: A journalist about weapons that destroyed a unique A-50 PCS aircraft
However, the question is: what exactly was one aircraft and damaged the other-the Patriot or C-300 system? The journalist of the military department of focus Alexander Matvienko told this in an interview. In Ukraine, with the support of Western partners, the Frankensam project operates, within which Soviet anti -aircraft complexes are modernized. Modernization is subjected not only to the BUK, but also the S-300 complexes.
"If there is a lot of information about the modernization of the BUK SPR, then nothing is known about the update of the C-300," says Alexander Matvienko. "It may have been a test use of such modernized weapons. " Of course, the journalist emphasizes, the technical characteristics of the Patriot system allow you to knock down such aircraft, and if Ukraine was at risk of placing such a valuable and rare complex for us near the front line, then it could be the American system.
Which of these versions is real is unknown, says Alexander Matvienko. According to him, the version of the invaders about the fact that the planes were injured from their own air defense systems demonstrates the striking incompetence of Russian air defense troops. The A-50 aircraft was particularly valuable, because thanks to the radar allowed to see the map of Ukraine as on the palm of hand: the aggressor had information about the launch places and radar stations at great distances.
Such aircraft remained in the Russians, because it is still a Soviet development, and to build a similar model takes a lot of time, money and technologies that are difficult to get Russia now. "As they say" on paper "7-8 such aircraft have left of the Russians, but it is unknown how many of them are able to fly at all," says Alexander Matvienko. " Learning for years and very few of them.
" The journalist says that in the whole of Soviet times, near 30 A-50 aircraft were made, so the Russian Federation, theoretically, can disassemble the worn aircraft vessels of this model and collect something working. But the production of "from scratch" cannot be discussed, says Alexander Matvienko. A complete conversation with a journalist of the Focus military department will soon be released on our YouTube channel.
