In the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a "Siberian Battalion" was formed, which is fully composed of Russian citizens. The soldiers who joined the battalion told about their goals and motivation in an interview with Radio Liberty, published on October 26.

It is noted that recruits that have arrived from Russia represent different ethnic groups, such as the Tatars, Yakuta and Buryat. According to one of the fighters with the call sign "poet", his main priority is now the acquisition of skills with weapons and other military skills. It is going to use these skills not only in Ukraine, but also, in the long run, in Russia.

"In Russia, I felt the oppression of the peoples of Siberia - people live in injustice, all money goes only to Moscow and in fact rich regions live very poorly. From a young age I was an opponent - said "poet". Another fighter, "Vargan", described his countrymen who invaded the territory of Ukraine as "Mancurts" who serve the interests of the Kremlin. "The people of Russia" decayed "because of poverty, they are ready to sell their mother for money.

When asked about the possibility of a coup in Russia, a fighter "Buryat" indicated that "peacefully it is no longer solving. " According to him, he is ashamed of the actions of fellow countrymen in Ukraine. "What crimes are the Russians themselves and, in particular, my people. I was ashamed of it. I did not want to treat it at all. I gathered and went . . . I believe that everyone involved ".

The Siberian Battalion is formed from representatives of the indigenous population of Russia, such as Buryat, Yakuta, Kalmyky, Tuvinka and others. On October 24, Bloomberg reported that the creation of a new unit consisting of Russian volunteers, mostly people from the Siberian peoples. Siberian battalion fighters told about the difficulties they face during the crossing of the border of Ukraine.

They usually come to Ukraine through third countries that take a considerable amount of time from a few months to a year. They claim that they are constantly being checked by Ukrainian special services. We will remind, on September 10 the fighters of the "Russian Volunteer Corps" carried out a successful battle on the border with Russia.
