"Barbarian invasion": Yandex founder Arkady Volozh opposed the war in Ukraine

The businessman stressed that he has friends and relatives in Ukraine, and he is "horror" from what is happening. One of Yandex founders, Arkady Volozh, issued a statement in which for the first time since February 2022 he expressed his position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The text of the statement was conveyed by The Bell. "There were many reasons why I had to be silent. I could argue about the timeliness of my statement, but not about its essence. I am against the war," he said.

Volozh emphasized that he has friends and relatives in Ukraine, and he is "horror" from what is happening. "I am categorically against the barbaric invasion of Russia into Ukraine, where I, like many, have friends and relatives. I am horrified that bombs fly into the houses of Ukrainians every day," the businessman emphasized. Volozh also acknowledged that it has a share of responsibility for the country's actions, although it has not resided in Russia since 2014.

He moved to Israel and since then has been developing the international Yandex projects. "In February 2022, the world changed, and I realized that my story with Yandex was over," he said. Arkady Vorozh said he once believed in progressive Russia, but over time it became clear that Russia was in no hurry to become part of the global world. "When we created Yandex, we not only thought about technologies and business.

We believed that we were building a new Russia - open, progressive, integrated into a global economy, known in the world not only for its raw material resources," - said the entrepreneur. Earlier, on July 5, Focus reported that the head of the Russian "Yandex" would be in the court for "LGBT propaganda". Yandex, the Director of the Subancture in Ukraine, is accused of propaganda of LGBT, since there is no 18+ marking on the "Kinopois" platform.
