"Flamingo" will bypass the Reservoir of the Russian Federation, but not everywhere: the designer talked about what struck the A-50 (video)
In fact, "Flamingo" is not a rocket, but a drone, said co-owner and chief designer of Fire Point Denis Shtilerman in a conversation with NV media. Shtilerman explained that the company deliberately showed the production and the face of the director so that there would be trust in the new development. According to him, the means of defeat costs 600,000 dollars, which is less than analogues.
The FP-5 flies at an altitude of 40 m, and this makes it possible to hide from the means of electronic surveillance of the Russian Federation. At the same time, according to the designer, it is unlikely to be able to bypass the air defense of Moscow and St. Petersburg, since the Russians have arranged an echelon defense for greater protection.
The speaker answered the journalist's question whether the missile really exists and whether it has already been fired over the territory of the Russian Federation. Stillerman said succinctly that there was combat use, but "can't comment any further. " At the same time, he assured that "in principle theoretically" the weapon will reach important Russian centers. After that, the designer explained that it was the Flamingo that made it possible to bypass air defense.
"If you fly low, below 40 m, no radars will detect you one hundred percent and you will easily pass into any city of the Russian Federation, except for Moscow and St. Petersburg, probably because there is a strong air defense system there. It is echeloned, there are three rings of air defense in Moscow, they use microphones on cell towers and other solutions," it was said on the air. The command of the SSO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was interested in the company's first products, drones.
As Shtilerman said, loud hits then began, and each time the results were confirmed by means of objective control. "In the 24th year, loud hits began, such as Tikhoretsk, Toropets, a bunch of other plants, A50 was destroyed in Taganrog in a hangar. And for the next year, in 2025, we were ordered even more drones," explained the guest of the studio. Next, the company decided to create a cruise missile, using accelerators that remained in the warehouses of the Armed Forces and Ukrainian engines.
However, the representative of Fire Point emphasized that "Flamingo" is codified precisely as a subsonic drone, capable of flying 3 thousand km and carrying 150 kg of explosives. A weapon on its way to the target can be knocked down by the "Armor" installation if the trajectory passes directly over it. But if you choose "a certain echelon of heights", and the installation will be located one or two kilometers away, then "nothing will happen".
Analogous positive results — overcoming EW, detection of spoofing, he specified. The estimated price of $600,000, which was voiced during the interview, depends on the engine, Shtilerman said. The rocket drone has a modular design - it is a tube with wings, to which you can attach any engine of the required power. Today, this is a Ukrainian-made engine, the speaker clarified. It is about the AI-25TL — it consumes less fuel and is cheaper.
Another feature is Open Source solutions for control algorithms: use does not require the permission of the governments of other countries. It should be noted that on October 13, military expert and aviator Kostyantyn Kryvolav explained how the development of the "Flamingo" differs from the development of the "Neptune". According to him, "Neptune" is a state project, which is implemented under strict control and reporting, and therefore time is spent on coordination and redrafting.
