Russia enters a new level in the development of tactical ballistic missile systems (OTRC). According to the latest data, Moscow is preparing for the mass production of the modernized version of the Iskander-M system with increased range, known under the unofficial name "Iskander-1000".

This is twice as much as the Iskander-M standard missiles, which allows you to hit the goals much further, including objects in Europe. Increasing the range was made possible by the improved engine and increased by 10-15% of the mass of solid fuel charge. The rocket retained a constructive similarity with 9m723, but received new guidance systems.

Among the possible updates: "Iskander-1000" is launched from the same mobile launches 9P78-1, as standard missiles of the Iskander family, which simplifies the deployment without the need to modernize infrastructure.

According to the observers, the placement of Iskander-1000 complexes, for example, in the Kaliningrad region will allow Russia to hold most of Eastern Europe under the sight, and the placement on the border with Ukraine is to create an additional threat to the Kiev military infrastructure, including the F-16 base. At the same time, the deployment of Russia (Karelia, St. Petersburg) may be aimed at restraining Finland, which has recently entered NATO.
