Ukrainian rocket with a range of 3000 km "Flamingo": how a new weapon will help against the Russian Federation
In Ukraine, the domestic long -range Flamingo missile has recently been presented, which has already been launched in mass production with the ability to hit targets at a distance of 3000 kilometers. The presence of a new long -range missile was confirmed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denis Shmigal. "Weapons are long-range, very powerful and it is. These are key details. And everything else we will find out when the right moment comes," he said, refraining from any detail.
Aviation expert Konstantin Krivolap revealed the details of the creation of a new Fleck-5 missile in Flamingo in a comment to Focus. According to him, the product is the result of the cooperation of two companies: Ukrainian Fire Point and the International Milan Group, registered in the United Arab Emirates. Both enterprises have Ukrainian roots, which emphasizes the important role of domestic experts in this project.
According to the expert, it was Milan Group who most likely developed the FP-5 rocket, while Fire Point took over its mass production. It is interesting that the first trials, according to unconfirmed data, took place in the west of Ukraine, which adds intrigue to this project. Information about the rocket is limited. Defense Express gives the following characteristics: "The range of a rocket that reaches three thousand kilometers is a significant achievement.
For comparison, the American rocket Tomahawk in its early versions has a range of two and a half thousand kilometers, although it was later reduced to one and a half thousand. Dimensions - about six meters long. He suggests that the rocket will not operate on its own, but will probably be part of the complex with other missiles, including Fire Point. It should be noted that Tomahawk has twice as smaller - 450 kg.
The observer also draws attention to the fact that FP5 has not only rockets, but also an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under the name FP-1, whose range is 1600 kilometers. If the combat part is removed, UAVs can act at greater distances, performing the functions of suppressing enemy drones. In the opinion of Krivolap, the guidance system probably combines inertial technologies with other means of lesions, although accurate mechanisms remain in question.
GPS itself does not provide sufficient accuracy, and inertial systems have their errors. The possibility of using cameras or map navigation is also considered, but without specifics. However, Krivolap doubts the expediency of a ton of combat part for such dimensions. "Comparing the X-22 rocket, 8-12 meters long, a six-meter building is unlikely to be able to effectively carry such mass. It can be rather a propaganda course, because accurate blows are sufficiently smaller.
The exception may be special warheads for unique tasks, but there are other means. " Krivolap noted that Ukraine needs about 50 rockets a month for effective operations - from intelligence to blows. Interestingly, the developers are also focused on this figure, which indicates a common vision of needs. However, the expert warns that the stated FP5 characteristics may not match the real, although they will be close to the announced.
This approach allows you to maintain intrigue and flexibility in further improvement. For comparison, according to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, which has published RBC-Ukraine, Russia produces up to 195 missiles monthly, in particular: this is not given the South Korean missiles that Russia receives from the DPRK.
