The customs officers were able to establish that they were traveling to Russia. It is known that European sanctions against the Russian Federation prohibit the delivery of luxurious cars (both new and used) at a price of more than 50,000 euros. However, they are often imported through third countries: the study showed that every second premium car imported into Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, then finds itself in Russia. The Tesla electric pickups were confiscated and their drivers were detained and questioned, but then released. The smuggling is investigating.
