The Armed Forces will receive more drones: ATLAS opens a plant and development center in Ukraine

Atlas Aerospace has been supplying AtlasPro to the Ukrainian military drones for almost a year, and now has been developing more compact atlas Mini and Atlas Micro models for soldiers. The Latvian company Atlas Aerospace launches its plant in Ukraine to provide Ukrainian troops with drones. Chief Executive Director Ivan Tolchinsky spoke in the sidelines of the Paris Airmazalona about the problems that the project faced.

At the end of 2022, Ivan Tolchinsky announced plans in 2023 to create a plant for research, development and collection of UAVs in Ukraine. According to him, not everything went, as it was thought-if the research center has already been started, then production is delayed through bureaucratic processes. "The opening is postponed until we understand it," the director said.

One way or another, Atlas still transmits to Ukraine drones made abroad - since December last year it has delivered about 200 units of Atlas Pro. According to Tolchinsky, now about 88% of all products of the company goes to Kiev. In addition to AtlasPro, engineers develop for military "pocket drones": Atlas mini weighing about 1 kg and micro -atlas weighing only 300 g. They will be much smaller than the current flagship that weighs 1. 8 kg.

Recently, Ukrainian soldiers have been complaining to the ATLASPRO. According to Ivan Tolchinsky, this is due to the fact that Russia improves its electronic fighting on the battlefield. Atlas experts have released software updates to protect the connection from the occupants' intervention - the new version should transfer data to the land station without the Internet or cellular networks faster.
