Ukrainian response to Russian Kabam: what a new airbag with 60 km can
On June 25, the Ukrainian design bureau "Medoid" presented a domestic analogue of Russian cabin. The project is currently under test. According to Defense Express, the Ukrainian Cab is already successfully tested. The test of the tests from the developers shows the discharges of the bomb from the front bomber Su-24 in horizontal flight. According to the representative of KB "Medoid" Oleg Vostych, the planning and management module for a 500-kilogram bomb is its own development.
"The developed wings are easily dressed on a bomb. There is no problem to connect. Only a few minutes. Domestic enterprises are involved in manufacturing," said Vosktych. The design of the module externally looks like a Russian cabin, which saves time for development. However, internal filling differs, because Ukrainian engineers seek to achieve higher accuracy.
The navigation module is also Ukrainian, but now the integration of new development from a leading French company to increase resistance to radio electronic wrestling (EIT) is being considered. At the same time, some components still have to import. Currently, the Ukrainian Cab is capable of making a planning flight at a distance of 60 km and accurately strike targets that meet the requirements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, agreed with the Ministry of Defense.
In the future, the developers plan to increase the range to 80 km, and under certain conditions (reset from a height of 10 km), the range can reach 100 km. Application tactics will play a key role in the realization of this potential. So far, the project is faced with a lack of funding. The cost of one such product is about UAH 1. 2 million. Fund questions - perhaps the main restraint factor for completion of work before starting production.
According to military expert Pavel Nazhny, the use of Ukrainian cabins can carry considerable devastating force for the Russian army. In particular, the expert notes that five hundred and kilograms easily demolish the building. "If we talk about a nine-storey building, two or three spans are stable. For comparison, a ballistic missile with a warhead weighing 450-480 kg can destroy the whole entrance. The cab flies much slower than the ballistic rocket.
It affects the nature of the lesion, but does not reduce their folk. Separately, the expert identifies specialized concrete aircraft that are designed to destroy fortifications. "They have a stronger special steel housing and less explosives. In contrast, ordinary cabbage is fugas, with thin walls, and explode on contact. They can punch 1-2 concrete floors, but not a bunker. That is why the Russians actively use them against civilian. People.
One of the reasons for the widespread use of cabin is their low cost and accessibility. According to the Zarny, there are huge reserves of Soviet airbombs in Ukraine, namely tens of thousands of pieces. Their modernization uses a universal planning and correction module (UMPC), which converts ordinary bombs to controlled weapons. Ukrainian developers probably copied this module when creating their Kabu.
According to the expert, the American analogue JDAM has a different design with a tail part and wings. The bove navigation system is based on two components: inertial system (gyroscope) and GPS correction. This allows the accuracy of the hit within 3 meters at a distance of up to 60 km. "It all depends on the antenna. There are CRP-antenna, resistant to the IR, their value depends on the number of channels-4, 8, 12 or 16.
The cost of the Russian UMPC can reach $ 150,000, while the American analogue from Boeing costs $ 25-30 thousand, but the latter is less resistant to HR," the expert emphasized. The people's economic benefits of the use of cabins. The Ukrainian army can receive powerful weapons per unit for $ 200,000 per unit. At the same time, a large number of aviation is stored in the warehouses.
Such cabins can be discharged from Su-24, Su-25, MiG-29 or F-16 aircraft, which makes them versatile for use in different arsenals. The cabins are effective for the destruction of troops, command points, drone operators or enemy artillery. The people compare them with the French AASM Hammer, which are up to 200 km, and US JDAM, which are also actively used. However, the key factor is the number of UMPC modules. "Hundreds of such cabins will not have a significant impact.
But 30-50 bombs a day can significantly change the situation at the front," the expert summed up. We will remind, in June 2025 the Ukrainian military received the first light aircraft of Shark with a built -in radio electronic wrestling system. The focus has learned whether such a technique could change the course of the Air War - and how many aircraft needed to keep the Shahda not to come to the goals.
