SpaceX rocket Ilona Mask sent a scientific project of students from Lviv region to space

The idea of the project arose after studying the unique way of obtaining hydrogel. This is the third scientific project of Ukrainian students who flew into space. The SpaceX-31 rocket sent a scientific project to the International Space Station created by students from Skole, Lviv region. This was reported in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The rocket launched on November 4 with Cape Kanaveral in the US state of Florida.

On her board was an experimental model of winners of the All -Ukrainian Competition of School Space Experiments of SSEP Skole School No. 2 named after Stefania Vitruk. The team experiment was called "obtaining biomedical hydrogels in microgravitation conditions". The winners of the competition sent research results on SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The ministry emphasized that this is the third scientific project of Ukrainian students who flew into space.

The Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine reported that the idea of a project from schoolchildren emerged after they learned about the opening of Lviv Polytechnics by the unique way of obtaining hydrogel. "Such hydrogels consist of organic nature chains associated with physical and chemical interactions. The chains form a grid in which water or other hydrophilic substances are located.

These substances have the ability to absorb other water -soluble substances and form a film, so they are already used in different industries on earth, " - said the participants of the project. In space, hydrogel can perform the functions of controlled release of medicines, substrate for growing cells or plants, dehumidifiers, hydrogel membranes, moisture sensors, stop bleeding and heal wounds.
