Victims, dozens of wounded and burning houses: what is known about the night shelling of Ukraine on October 22
The attack continued from 19:00 on October 21, the Russians used 28 missiles (of which 15 were ballistic) and more than 400 drones of various types, including Shahed and Gerbera. The main direction of the attack was Kyiv region, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Odesa regions were also affected. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.
According to preliminary data, air defense destroyed or suppressed 349 air targets, among which: 12 direct hits of missiles and 55 strike drones were recorded in 26 locations. At another 19 locations, falling fragments of downed targets were found. There are dead and injured among the civilian population. As a result of the attack on the capital, two people died, and up to 25 people were injured, including five children.
On the morning of October 22, during the shelling of the Brovar district, an explosion and fire killed a woman, her six-month-old daughter, and her twelve-year-old niece. In total, at least 10 residential buildings were damaged in Darnytskyi, Desnyanskyi, Dniprovskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi and Solomyanskyi districts of Kyiv. Rescuers extinguished all fires, and psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided assistance to 88 victims.
Enemy anti-aircraft guns damaged at least 15 private houses in the Industrial district of the city. 9 people were injured. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the UAV hit a private kindergarten in Kholodnohirsky district. A fire broke out at the site of the impact. One person died, 7 were injured. According to the report of the head of the OVA, Vladyslav Haivanenko, the region experienced another massive attack by rockets and drones.
Air defense forces shot down 42 drones, but infrastructure damage was recorded in Sloviansk, Pishchansk and Pavlograd communities. Residential buildings, cars and a gas pipeline were damaged, without victims or victims. Nikopolshchyna was once again under artillery and FPV-drones attacks. At night, the enemy attacked the city with 12 Shahed drones. As a result of the strikes, 13 people were injured, including two children, and the homes of more than 120 residents were damaged.
Lesions were recorded in three districts of Zaporozhye. According to the head of OVA Igor Taburets, there is damage to critical infrastructure, residential buildings and transport in Bobrytska and Kanivska communities. There are no injured. Schedules of emergency power outages are in effect in the region. As Oleksandr Seliverstov, the head of the Novgorod-Siversky district military administration, reported on Facebook, more than 90 explosions were recorded per day.
A hospital, school, cafe, warehouses and residential buildings were damaged. Four people died, 11 were injured. The most shelling was in the Novgorod-Siversk and Semenivsk communities, where the enemy used Geran-2 drones, Tornado-S systems, and MLRS. The head of the OVA Oleg Kiper reported that the attack drones attacked Izmail at night. The energy and port infrastructure was damaged, there were fires. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
