"After victory over Russia": Ukraine will become a member of NATO - Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General has stated that it is now very important to provide Ukraine with all the types of weapons that it needs to knock Russian aggressors out of its territory. NATO countries are ready to see Ukraine as part of the Alliance, but the main condition is its victory over Russia that has solved this war. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a briefing on February 15.

"NATO's position has not changed in terms of Ukraine: Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance, but now the focus must be made to guarantee the victory of Ukraine in the war," the Secretary General said. He noted that NATO countries need to help Ukraine protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Stoltenberg stressed that only a sovereign and independent state can be part of the Alliance, so the only way to integrate the country in NATO lies through the victory over Russia.

Also, the head of the Alliance said that it is now very important to provide Ukraine with all the types of weapons that it needs to knock Russian aggressors. In addition, Stoltenberg stated that NATO countries are already working with Ukraine to move from weapons, doctrines and standards of Soviet times to NATO standards. It is also important to carry out security and defense reform that will bring the country closer to NATO accession.

"The best proof that the support is working is the success that Ukraine demonstrates on the battlefield," the Secretary General said. NATO Secretary -General added that NATO countries work with Ukraine's leadership in transparency and accountability.

We will remind, on February 14, the head of the Ministry of Defense Alexei Reznikov after meeting with NATO General Jens Stoltenberg stated that last year Ukraine was essentially a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, and the Ministry of Defense was doing everything to confirm the introduction legally.
