The Czech Republic has sent T-72M1 tanks to Ukraine: the Czech army goes to Leopard 2-the media

About 20 tanks were sent at the end of March-early April 2025, after which no tank of this type was left in the warehouses of the 7th Mechanized Brigade. Some of them were upgraded to the T-72M4CZ standard, while the rest remained in the original version. Some machines were brought to the reserve, but after the start of a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine they were returned to the system and sent to the Ukrainian defense forces. The Czech Republic conducts a large -scale modernization of armored troops. As part of this program, the T-72 tanks, including upgraded T-72M4CZ, will be completely replaced by German Leopard 2.

Orders for: modernization are held in the course of NATO compliance. The Czech Ministry of Defense notes that the modernization of Soviet tanks faces technical restrictions and is no longer justified in the long run. T-72M1 is a modernized export version of the Soviet main combat tank T-72, designed for supply to the countries of the Warsaw Pact and other states. It is an improved T-72M version with a number of improvements in armor, weapons and fire control systems.

The machine is equipped with a fire control system, including laser rangefinder and night surveillance devices, which increases the accuracy of firing and combat efficiency in conditions of limited visibility. The charging machine allows you to reduce the crew to three people and ensures that about 8 shots per minute.
