Germany will send Ukraine to Ukraine and create its fleet - a military expert

Ukraine has proven that effective marine drones can be quickly developed from scratch, with limited resources. Germany is about to transfer overwill drones to Ukraine, and then invest huge money in the modernization of its fleet, including to create sea drones. This opinion was published in Forbes by a military expert from drones and the author of the book about UAV "Swarm Troopers" David Gambling.

At an international meeting at the Ramstein Air Force on Tuesday, the Secretary of State of the Parliament of Germany, Zimitier Meller, announced a new package of support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine worth 400 million euros, which will include 50 naval drones, reports the site of the Federal Ministry of Defense. At the same time, only 10 devices are mentioned in the announcement on the Bundeswehr Armed Forces website.

The German authorities did not indicate where they would be taken, they may be purchased from other countries. The Ukrainian industry has shown how quickly it can develop new USV (unmanned surface vessels) from scratch, with limited resources. According to David Gambling, Germany has a lot to learn in Ukraine, which in the short term was able to create several models of effective surface drones at once, affecting the ships of Russian invaders.

With the world -famous engineering potential, which is famous for Germany, David is surprised that this country has not yet demonstrated anything in this aspect. The author notes that the German Navy purchased only one arcims USV extra-water drone for the experimental role of the mineswoman in 2016 at Atlas Electronik, and in 2008, Rheinmetall Defense had converted a boat to work with drones. The fleet modernization plan, which has been stretched for the next 12 years, may correct this problem.

The new defense document of Germany, teaching naval plans by 2035, states that within the next decade there will be significant investments in naval drones in addition to ships with crew. Prior to Russia's attack on Ukraine, Marine Dron-Kamikadze was not considered somehow important and were seen as a guerrilla war warrior in the maritime states.

Germany, having large technical resources, may plan to create a completely new line of small USV from a clean sheet, adapted to the needs of such wars, the author said. This approach would also give Germany the advantage in the development of technologies, which will be increasingly used in future naval battles. Earlier, Focus said that the NATO military had tried Thales sea drone. Similar underwater drones want to equip the entire fleet, replacing them with special ships for mineing.
