Every sixth citizen of Germany and Poland is ready to defend their country in the event of a war with the Russian Federation - the media

According to the survey, 40% of the Germans will not take weapons under no circumstances, and every third Pole is ready to run to a safe place. Much of the Germans will not protect the country in the event of war. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the FORSA Institute - out of 84. 4 million people of Germany only 17% have declared their readiness to stand up for the state, another 19% would probably do so. This was reported on October 20 by the German edition of Stern.

It is noted that the survey was conducted against the background of the statement of the German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who said "Germany should become ready for war and is able to protect himself in the face of international threats. " "According to the survey results, the vast majority - 61 percent - are probably not ready or are not ready to protect Germany with weapons in the case of a military attack," the observers write.

At the same time, the proportion of those who are not ready to protect the country with weapons in their hands in no circumstances are 40%, which is almost twice as much as the results of the same survey in May 2022. It is interesting that, given the age categories, 39% of German men aged 45 to 59 are ready to do so. In Poland, with 38 million citizens, only 15% said they would go to the army in the event of an attack of Russia, Rzeczpospolita reports.

"If the war began, every third Pole would decide to escape from their place of residence, and only 15. 7% of respondents would like to voluntarily go to the army," Polish journalists write. At the same time - 29% will go volunteers, such as hospital or other social institutions, 25. 5% will go to the safe part of the country, 22% will do nothing. 15. 7% will go to the army, but as volunteers, 11. 9% will go abroad with their family. 11. 6% do not know how they will continue.

We will remind, the Minister of Defense of Germany Boris Pistorius on December 16 stated that Europe, especially the Baltic countries, Moldova and Georgia, should take seriously the threats of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, at the end of this decade, a danger may be dangerous before Europe. It is Putin's statement about the situation around the Scandinavian countries to the NATO Bloc.
