In the Russian Federation on May 9, they want to show a rare BM-14mm: whether it will get into Ukraine (photo)

This system has a non -standard caliber for the Russian Land Forces. However, the systems with 140 mm jet shells are in service with the Russian fleet-they are equipped with a boat of the project 1024 "Bumblebee" and the landing ship "Bison". During the rehearsal of the parade on May 9, a rare BM-14mm volley fire on the ZIL-131 chassis was lit in the Russian Yekaterinburg. On this occasion, Defense Express observers were reported on April 5 that it was a "specific Russian rarity".

Information on preparation for the parade for May 9 with the participation of a very rare BM-14mm appeared in Russian social networks. In particular, the leading channel "Voenny Zedomist" write that the installations of BM-14 were issued since the early 1950s and went into service on both Soviet jet artillery regiments and export. But since the early 1960s they have been replaced by the latest "Grads" at that time.

Open sources report that this system was replaced by Katyusha, having a shooting range up to 10 km and higher accuracy than predecessors. The installation was based on various platforms, including ZIL-131, ZIL-157, GAZ-63, etc. It was the BM-14mm version with the 2B2r index was installed on the 131st Zili. It is also emphasized that this RSSU was actively supplied to the Warsaw Treaty and other allies of the USSR.

The BM-14 machine is made according to the classic layout, where the artillery part is located in the back of the chassis. It consists of a package of guides, a farm, a rotary frame, a rotary, lifting and balanced mechanisms, sighting devices, electrical equipment, curbstones, subframes and special equipment of the chassis. The guide package consists of 16 pipes.

With the help of guidance mechanisms, it can be given in the vertical plane in the range of angles from 0 ° to +50 °, with the angle of horizontal shelling is 140 ° - 70 ° to the left and to the right of the longitudinal axis of the machine. As for the caliber, according to various data, it is non -standard for the Armies of the USSR and Russia - 140 mm. Moreover, experts say that this caliber makes BM-14 quite specific, so it is not in service even in the DPRK.

The authors of the publication believe that the demonstration of a rare BM-14 RSD has two reasons. The first is to cultivate a kind of "cargo culture", in which the Russians either represent the layouts of rare weapons, or really restore old samples for parades. The second reason is more pragmatic. The fact is that the caliber of jet shells 140 mm, though not standard for the army of the Russian Federation, is standard for the Russian fleet.

In particular, the RSSU with a similar caliber is installed on two types of ships of the Russian Federation - boat of the project 1024 "Schmel" and a landing ship on the air cushion "Bison" left in the fleet. In addition, there was a variant of BM-14-17, which was intended for Marines.
