Russia is preparing new breakthroughs in Donetsk region: analysts have warned about a dangerous "speech" near the time ravine

The Institute of War Study (ISW) warns that the capture of the Temporal Yar can open several operational directions to Russian troops for a further offensive on the Ukrainian belt of the fortress in Donetsk region.

Konstantinovka, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka are threatened. According to ISW, the Russians try not so much to achieve rapid victories as to exhaust Ukrainian defense with slow advance. This is indicated by the dynamics of hostilities: from May 2023 to August 2025, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were able to move only 11 km, having lost thousands of fighters. Analysts say that Russian troops actually control most of the time ravine and can soon complete its admiration.

After that, they will try to attack Ukrainian fortifications from several directions: directly from the west, from the toretsk or through the fields to Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka and the H-20 highway. Another probable scenario is to promote the northwest in the direction of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk along the E-40 highway. At the same time, this offensive is complicated by relief and natural obstacles.

Therefore, ISW considers the development of attacks from the Siverskaya area, which will allow you to create pressure on the belt of the fortresses from the northeast. Russian troops also try to cover Konstantinovka from the southwest, avoiding direct offensive until they strengthen their position. The ISW emphasizes that the Kremlin's purpose is not only tactical achievements, but also strategic loosening of Ukrainian defense in Donetsk region.

Despite the statements of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation about the full capture of the time ravine, the Armed Forces denied this information. The Khortytsia group stressed that the fighting is ongoing and the Ukrainian forces hold the southern and western quarters of the city. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Russian statements about success in misinformation. ISW also confirms that although the Russians control most of the city, key areas are still held by defense forces.

The promotion of the enemy to the West remains limited, and the final capture of the time ravine may be delayed. As reported by Focus, at the end of June, Russian soldiers filmed a video of arranging the flags of the Russian Federation in the neighborhoods of "Shevchenko" and "Workshop # 2".
