Ordered to capture Pokrovsk in November: Putin accelerated the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces in Donbas, media

Share: Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian military command to establish control over the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region by mid-November 2025. As a result, the Russian occupation army increased the intensity of its attacks in the Donetsk region, writes The Financial Times. Journalists note that some units of the Russian Armed Forces have already penetrated to Pokrovsk, and Ukraine denies reports of a complete encirclement of its troops on that part of the front.

"The lack of human resources in the Ukrainian advanced brigades made it easier for the Russian troops to identify and exploit gaps in the defense," the article says. The authors of the material emphasize that Pokrovsk played a key role as a transport and logistics hub until 2024, and its loss could be a strategic blow for Ukraine, opening the way for the enemy to new directions of attack.

It is noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces confirmed that about 200 Russian soldiers had indeed entered Pokrovsk. At the same time, intensive clashes and battles are recorded along the entire front line, which stretches for thousands of kilometers.

Journalists noted that the offensive, which has been going on for several months, is accompanied by the slow advance of Russian troops towards Liman and Kostiantynivka, and the enemy has focused the main attention on the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration. We will remind you that on October 26, Volodymyr Zelenskyi denied reports about the encirclement of the Armed Forces near Kupyansk and Pokrovsk. On October 27, the Ukrainian military told what the capture of Pokrovsk would mean for Ukraine.
