Rewice to mobile SDR: the Armed Forces fighters created a modification of the Stinger complex (video)

In real combat conditions, the Dual Mount Stinger complex was impractical because the installation was placed in three containers of 100 kg, and it was large and inconvenient in transfer. The decision of the Kiev engineers corrected the situation. The Bilotserkovsky anti-aircraft missile regiment fighters developed a unique modification of the cumbersome American complex Dual Mount Stinger, turning it into a more mobile system that resembles a small version of the ABRC AN/TWQ-1 Avenger.

The new installation was demonstrated by the Alexander Sagittarius in the Army-TV report, showing its high maneuverability based on HMMWV (Humvee) car. The Dual Mount Styinger system, equipped with two missiles, was welded to the HMMWV body, which significantly increased its mobility and the speed of deployment. Unlike the standard Avenger design, the Ukrainian version, although devoid of a complex aiming system and enlarged ammunition, retains key benefits in speed and maneuverability.

In other words, during adaptation, Kiev engineers eliminated a number of shortcomings of the initial system related to its massiveness and complexity of deployment. The serviceman explained that Dual Mount installations and missiles were transferred to them at the beginning of the war. In real combat conditions, they were impractical - the installation was placed in three containers of 100 kg and was heavy and inconvenient in transfer.

Moreover, the freight radius was limited to 50 meters through the power cable, and the deployment of the system took up to 15 minutes, making the air defense fighters a light target. Now the complex has acquired the most important characteristic for such systems in current realities - mobility, as well as the deployment time, which is now only three minutes.

The serviceman Alexander also noted that thanks to this mobile design, two Su-25, two KA-52, about five Red-10 drones and barrading ammunition managed to destroy. However, the high cost of rockets to Stinger - which is about 780 thousand euros per unit, makes each operation extremely responsible, so rockets must use lightning, accurately and economically.
