Ukrainian and world human rights organizations should receive prompt information about human rights violations by the Russian aggressor - Andriy Yermak
“In the 21st century, we have reached the fact that there are concentration camps in the center of Europe. I mean not only Olenivka, but also other terrible places, ”said the Presidential Office Head. He noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross did not agree to delegate its representatives to the mission, which was to be held to the line of demarcation and to demand from Russia access to the places of keeping the Ukrainian prisoners.
At the proposal of Andriy Yermak, the participants of the meeting made a decision to create an information human rights headquarters, which on a regular basis will publish important data for human rights abuses during Russian aggression for the world human rights community and the media. The Head of the Head of State called on Ukrainian and international human rights organizations to join the staff.
It will work continuously and will become a platform for information support for the issues of Ukrainian prisoners held by the Russian aggressor. "We have to press on the Russian Federation on all sides, keep this issue in focus at all international sites and do everything on us to get information and work on an international mission," Andrey Yermak stressed.
The head of the head of state also proposed to create an interactive exhibition dedicated to the issues of Ukrainian prisoners held by Russia. According to Andriy Yermak, Ukrainians, released from captivity and relatives of the prisoners, will be able to participate in the exhibition. "When people see what is happening today, in the 21st century, in the center of Europe, it is better than any political tools," he said.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets expressed his conviction that the International Committee of the Red Cross has now demonstrated its inefficiency and even a unwillingness to control Russia's compliance with the norms of humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention. “As human rights activists, we need to look for new sites, new mechanisms to cope with this challenge.
Therefore, I invite everyone to join this initiative and attach colleagues from all over the world, ”Dmitry Lubinets said. The Commissioner also informed that the international Ombudsman community supports the creation of new missions and sites, which will raise the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian hostages, as well as deported children whom Russia continues to export from temporarily occupied territories.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparov, the unification of the efforts of state and non -governmental human rights organizations will allow new approaches to the protection of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners. "Only when we join our efforts can we have a result," she said.
