Germany intends to create an army of drones: The Bundestags are inspired by the experience of Ukrainian fighters

German parliamentarians noted that the use of UAVs offensive and defensive military strategies have undergone significant changes. This is evidenced by two years of experience of war in Ukraine. In the Bundestag, the CDU/CSU parliamentary group proposed to create a special unit of drones in the German Army. The legislators emphasized the need for a specialized army of drones, which will satisfy the strategic and tactical requirements of the German Air Force, the Land Forces and the Navy.

This was reported on May 17 by Army Recognition. It is noted that the initiative is largely based on the experience of Ukrainian armed forces in their continued conflict with Russia. The project covers the provision of sufficient drones for intelligence and hostilities, as well as the training of drones and their switches.

Deputies stressed that in two years of armed conflict between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the offensive and defense military strategies have undergone significant changes, and drones play a decisive role in them. In their view, the spread of UAV made maneuvering large mechanized compounds more and more complex, which showed the Ukrainian counter -offensive in the summer of 2023 and recent actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the territory of Ukraine.

Thus drones contribute to immediate counteraction, making traditional offensive operations more complex. The CDU/CSU proposal outlines several key measures: combat readiness: each combat unit, starting from the platoon level and above, must be equipped to fight drones and have appropriate support forces. Specialized Drone Division: It is planned to create a new branch of the Bundesver specializing in unmanned systems and protection against drones, based on the experience of war in Ukraine.

Training and Adaptation: It is planned to adapt the basic preparation of the Bundesver so that all soldiers are able to handle drones and barrel ammunition, as well as protect themselves from them. Procurement and Development: It is planned to conclude purchases with the German defense industry and invest in the development of different classes of drones and related technologies.
