Children's abduction is one of the components of the crime of the genocide of the Ukrainian people, which is committed by Russia - Darya Gerasimchuk

Advisor-Presidential Commissioner for the Rights of the Child and Children's Rehabilitation Darya Gerasimchuk took part in the event of a high level of "gross violations of human rights through aggression against Ukraine", which took place in the Hall of Trustees at the UN Headquarters in New York.

In the speech, Darya Gerasimchuk called on the world community to join the rescue of Ukrainian children, whom the aggressor is kidnapped and forcibly exported to Russia or to temporarily occupied territories, as such actions are one of the components of the crime of the genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Advisor - Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on the Rights of the Child said that, according to the data on February this year, the Russian military killed 461 children and injured 927 babies. 16 221 children were clearly identified, who were illegally forcibly removed from the territory of Ukraine. However, the real number of forceful Ukrainian children reaches hundreds of thousands. According to Darya Gerasimchuk, only 307 young Ukrainians managed to return home.

After returning, their stories were able to identify the scenarios of the abduction of Ukrainian minor citizens and actions of representatives of the Russian Federation on them. On the example of stories of several children, the advisor - the Presidential Commissioner informed about five scenarios of export. The first is when the Russians forcibly move children after the murder of their parents. The second scenario - children is removed directly from the family.

The third is the separation of children and parents during filtration. The fourth scenario is the creation of unsuitable conditions and a proposal to transfer children for health and recreation. And the fifth - the export of children's institutions in full composition.

“We have to do everything on us to save Ukrainian children, because tomorrow this can happen with any child from any country in the world! And today, each of you can and should decide what he can personally do to help Ukrainian children, and therefore, children of the world, ”Daria Gerasimchuk said.

The High Level event was convened and conducted by a permanent representation of Ukraine at the UN together with the permanent representations of 36 member states of the United Nations and the EU representation on the eve of the anniversary of the beginning of the full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. During the meeting, attention was focused on the consequences of the war for the rights of people, including children.
