"You are not in war": EU has been called to stop supplying ammunition to other countries except Ukraine

Josep Borrel calls on EU Member States to suspend export contracts to other states. This will be the best option for the rapid increase of supply of the Armed Forces. The European Union will not transfer the promised 1 million ammunition to Ukraine until March 2024. Because of this, the EU is urging manufacturers of shells not to supply products to anyone except Kiev. About it reports Zone Militare. By the end of 2023, only a third of the promised EU shells were delivered to Ukraine.

The internal market and industry commissioner Tierry Breton said that the European Union would reach the purpose of production of 1 million shells per year before March or April 2024. "We will continue to improve our production facilities, probably about 1. 3-1. 4 million at the end of this year, and continue to increase significantly next year. We need to produce a million shells with this capacity to make the majority of Ukraine as priority. Because there is an urgent need, "Breton said.

Also, the EU Supreme Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrel, stated that Ukraine needs to be supported as much as it is needed. The best option for increasing the supply of ammunition to the Armed Forces Borrel has called exports to other countries except Ukraine. "The best way to sell more in Ukraine or make bigger donations is to say to others:" Please wait, you are not in the war, you can wait a few months. And to redirect this production towards Ukraine.

This is a political decision that Member States must make, "Borrel said. The publication is noticed that the issue of suspension of ammunition exports can be exposed to possible penalties and loss of markets. Currently, 11 countries within the EU have production capacity for artillery production: Czech Republic, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
