Poisoning of Ukrainian politicians in recent years: whether Russia is involved

Ukrainian politicians have repeatedly attempted to live. Focus tells about attempts to poison the head of the Ministry of Defense Rustem Umerov, the third president Viktor Yushchenko, former US Ambassador John Herbst and former Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vasyl Tsushko. On Tuesday, on November 28, the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense (GUR MO) confirmed the attempt on the wife of Kirill Budanov - she was poisoned.

In addition to Marianne, other intelligence staff, who were responsible for operations related to the Russian Federation, were injured. However, this is not the only such case in Ukraine not only from the beginning of a full -scale invasion, but also long before the war. Focus tells about four cases of poisoning of political figures. In the bank of 2022, Rosmi, citing three sources, reported that Rustem Umerov, a participant in the delegation of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, could poison.

Umerov himself then stated that he was fine with him and advised not to read untested sources. At the same time, it became known about the poisoning of the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who also participated in the negotiations. Sources from the businessman's environment said that the symptoms of chemical poisoning began to manifest itself in Kiev.

After the trip to Kiev, Abramovich and Umerov went to Istanbul, where they started to feel bad, the Russian businessman had a head of a head, there were problems with vision, the skin had fallen, while Umerov had not so severe symptoms. On the eve of the Presidential Elections in 2004, Viktor Yushchenko was poisoned. In an interview with BBC, he said it was the third attempt attempt. "It was a third attempt attempt when the election remained for almost a month.

At a meeting with the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine, which cooperated with the Russian team at the time, I was spilled poison. We dinner at about 22:30, it was after a big rally," he said he. According to the investigation, the poison was added to the rice. An hour later, Yanukovych felt severe headache, there was a metal taste on his lips, then he got worse.

In the following days, swelling of the body began, the head became larger, inflammatory and purulent processes inside the body began. Despite the fact that in 2008 the Russian Prosecutor's Office stated that Dioxin was not produced in Yushchenko's body in Russia, he is convinced that the Russian Federation is when the incident was involved. In May 2023, the Atlantic Council, citing Roszma, reported John Herbst's likely poisoning.

According to Russian journalists, Herbst was one of at least four people who have been poisoned by Russian special services in the last two years. The Atlantic Council stated that in April 2021 he became ill and felt symptoms that could testify to poisoning, he had an increased level of blood toxins. Doctors treated Herbst, but could not finally draw conclusions about poisoning.

The federal law enforcement agencies have taken a blood sample from Herbst, but the result of laboratory tests did not show toxic compounds. Voice of America with reference to the then Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vasyl Tsushko in 2007 reported his poisoning. "I was applied to theophylline, which in doses of more than 20 units become poison. One laboratory shows about 500 units in my blood, and the other more than 600 units.

This indicates that I was poisoned with the calculation that I was not survive Tsushko. According to him, he miraculously survived, German doctors stated that this is a unique case - one of the four known. Tsushko believes that the cause of poisoning could be his actions to prevent the coup in the Prosecutor General's Office and anti -corruption actions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while the attempted customers may be people from the presidential secretariat.

We will remind, on November 28 it became known about the poisoning of the wife of the head of GUR MOV Kiril Budanov. Marianna was diagnosed with heavy metals. GUR stated that these metals are not used in everyday life and military affairs, so it can indicate a purposeful attempt to poison a particular person. Lieutenant General, Head of Foreign Intelligence Service in 2020–2021, the head of the GUR in 2015–2016 Valery Kondratyuk stated that Budanov's wife was poisoned by mercury and arsenic.
