Oil from the Russian Federation will no longer be in one of the EU countries: who will ban import from March 1

According to journalists, Bulgaria can also suspend the work of the Lukoil oil refining plant owned by Russia. In 2024, the European Union will become less than Russian oil. Yes, on March 1, oil imports from the Russian Federation will ban Bulgaria, reports Efe. It is noted that the ban on Russian oil in Bulgaria will take effect earlier, since the country has allowed not to comply with the conditions of the pan -European ban by the end of 2024.

The publication also states that in December this year, Bulgaria is going to prohibit the processing of oil that takes place at the Lukoil plant in Burgas. At the same time, the final decision was not made yet. It is the only oil refinery (refinery) in Bulgaria, owned by the Russian fuel giant. In this case, the refinery in the burghar pays 60% of income tax, but when the assets of the object are sold, then the tax will be reduced to 15%.

The company will also be modernized, which will cost 500 million euros so that the plant can process non -Russian oil varieties. When EU countries banned oil imports from Russia in June 2022, Bulgaria received "special status" by the end of 2024. The reason: her "geographical predisposition". The fact is that Bulgaria is seriously dependent on the branched oil refinery "Lukoil" in Burgas. The plant is located on the Black Sea coast, it provides 80% of the country's needs for diesel and gasoline.

The plant also provides a tenth of the country's economic production. At the same time, the status of Bulgaria allowed the Russian Federation to avoid restrictions, so that Moscow has earned almost a billion euros for war against Ukraine. Recall that Russia will build a nuclear power plant (NPP) "Paksh II" in Hungary. This project of the Russian Federation will earn more than 12 billion euros. Recall that since December 5 there is a ceiling of prices for Russian oil - $ 60 per barrel.
