The US may invade Mexico: why fentanyl spreads are more important than war in Ukraine

Instead of helping Ukraine, the US Republican Party is electing another military project - a blow to the Mexican territory. The exfedral prosecutor Gregory Wallens in the column for The Hill considers it a classic example of a "blunt war". Barack Obama, as a senator, explained his opposition to the invasion of Bush's administration into Iraq, saying, "I am not against all the wars. I am against the dull war. " For their part, Republicans are not against all wars - they only oppose reasonable.

For several months, the support of the Republicans of a reasonable war, which serves our national interests and helps Ukraine to protect against the Russian invasion, is steadily declining. Meanwhile, support for a truly stupid war - unilateral military attacks on drug cartels in Mexico in order to stop cross -border trade in Fentanyl - almost became a party dogma.

Presidential candidates from the Republican Party Governor Florida Ron Aryanis, Senator from South Carolina Tim Scott and the former UN Ambassador Nikki Galey recently supported such hostilities. The landing promised to send special forces to the US to destroy fentanyl laboratories on the first day. Leading Republicans in the House of Representatives and the Senate have proposed wide permits for the use of US military force in Mexico.

In 2020, Defense Minister Mark Esper realized that President Donald Trump was seriously tuned to an attack on Mexico, when he asked Esper twice about the use of missiles to destroy Mexican laboratories for drug production and the impression that "no one would know that they were. " Esper wrote in his memoirs that if he did not look Trump in his face, he would have thought it was a joke. In 2022, more Americans died from Fentanyl than they died during the wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq.

But the second Mexican-American war will not cause significant damage to Mexican enterprises for fentanyl production. Even Trump's national security advisor John Bolton, known for his warlikeness, said unilateral military operations would not "solve the problem". An unmanaged third of Mexico offers enough space for fentanyl production in small, widely discharged laboratories. One laboratory was located in the middle of a cow herd.

Drug cartels, which would be the fifth largest employer in Mexico, if they were the only organization, are very stable because, despite the fact that dozens of workers are losing through police or internal violence daily, they continue to do business. Since there is so much money on American drug addiction, the US will have to continue to bomb constantly renewable drug laboratories. In other words, Republicans will draw us into another "eternal war".

Moreover, Mexico will not just stand aside as long as the United States brutally violate its sovereignty and again reveals the wounds of the American-Mexican War of 1846-1848. She then lost half of her territory, but the Mexicans still celebrate Mexico City Protection against American invaders by young teen cadets who would rather commit suicide than they have surrendered. But Republicans are obviously believed that even if Mexico resists, it will be quickly suppressed by US military strength.

Such thinking that echoes the Kremlin's thinking when it has fallen into Ukraine, suggests that the passionate country will fight on its own, without external support. In fact, Mexico has a potential ally to help protect himself from US drug carteling attacks - Vladimir Putin.

If you think it is far-fetched, keep in mind that Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador called the Republicans' proposals for the use of military force against drug cartels "an insult to the people of Mexico, who does not obey any orders.

" And keep in mind that Lopez Obrador, who condemned the United States for the supply of weapons to Ukraine, recently invited the contingent of Russian soldiers to march together with the Mexican soldiers in the military parade, perhaps to send a signal to the Republican hawks of the invasion. If Ukraine is losing war because the Republicans have blocked military assistance and the United States will instead attack Mexican drug laboratories, we can witness the stunning reversal of the situation.
