Long Building: The Russian Federation has completed the test of T-14 "Armata" with 152 mm gun

It is a 152-mm smooth-bore gun 2A83-1a, created on the basis of artillery 2A65, which is used in the self-propelled artillery system "MSTA-C". In the 38th Research Institute at the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the test of a new version of the T-14 "Armata" tank is completed. One of the most significant updates of the new version of the VTT is the installation of a 152-mm smooth-bore gun 2A83-1a, which is uncharacteristic for the Russian tank-building school.

The Bulgarian Military Viewers with reference to Roszma told about it on June 20. The fact that Rostech's corporation continues to develop the version of the T-14 "Armat" tank with high firing power, became known in December 2023. In particular, the head of the company Serhiy Chemezov spoke about it at the end of 2023.

In this regard, the observers write that the installation of a 152-mm smooth-bore gun 2A83-1a with a chrome trunk and 48 calibers is one of the most significant updates of the new version of Armata. In addition, it is rumored that the Russian T-14 will also get a new fire control system. A series of guns 2A83 was first developed in the 1990s for a new generation of Russian tank, known in the project documentation as T-95 or "Object 195".

This barrel was created on the basis of artillery gun 2A65 used in the Self-propelled Artillery System 2C19 "MSTU-C". However, in 2009, the experimental project "Object 195" was stopped. The Defense Ministry stated that it was out of place and did not need modernization, since it had too many old Soviet technologies. The cannon has 48 calibers, which provides high accuracy and range of firing, and the chrome barrel - increased durability and resistance to wear.

Weapons use modern ammunition more than a meter long, including pugs and thermobaric, as well as armor -piercing and sub -caliber shells. In addition, 2A83-1a can fire anti-tank guided missiles of the 9M133FM family, intended for Purt "Cornet". The ammunition consists of 40 shells, of which 24 are in the charging machine. In this case, the resource of the 152mm barrel 2A83-1a is about 280 shots compared to the base 125 mm trunk T-14, which can withstand at least 900 shots.

The artillery version of the upgraded tank can shoot at a speed of 10 shots per minute compared to 12-15 shots per minute for a standard 125mm version. However, the barrel 2A83-1a is almost twice-5 tons, while 2A82-2. 7 tons. According to experts, in modern hostilities the need for the Russian army in such machines is obvious. Russian sources proudly state that an experimental tank based on "Armat", which has greater fire power, shows "unique and universal opportunities" during the trials.

It is worth noting that despite numerous propaganda statements by the Russian military leadership, the T-14 could not prove its combat efficiency on the battlefield. In addition, there are questions about the mass production of machines, despite the fact that Rostech declared the adoption of the arms of the Russian Federation of these tanks.
