Sanctions should turn Russia into a paper tiger with a cardboard sword - Andriy Yermak at a meeting with journalists of the leading media of Europe
“Four months ago, all this seemed incredible. Two months ago, it became possible. Today it has become inevitable. We make every effort to tomorrow the fact of fulfilling all the recommendations of our group to become perfect, ”he stressed. Andriy Yermak noted that the purpose of the international sanction group, which was created on the initiative of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, is to transform Russia into a paper tiger with a cardboard sword. “Economy is the blood of war.
Money is a weapon both literally and figuratively. It is necessary to make a devastating blow to the economy of the aggressor, to deprive him of money. Figuratively speaking, replace his steel with cardboard, ”explained the head of the Presidential Office. Andriy Yermak recalled that during the work, the expert group has worked out four thorough documents: sanctioning road maps and detailed sets of recommendations on energy, individual and financial restrictions.
“Each of these documents is the result of working together with many world -class experts. The materials are transmitted to the leaders of members of the sanction coalition. This is primarily the US, Britain, Australia, EU. There, officials use them in the preparation of sanction packages, ”he said.
The head of the Presidential Office also believed that individual conversations on "fatigue from sanctions" are information manipulations that testify to the undeniable success and effectiveness of the international sanction group. Michael McFol's co -chairman noted that sanctions are one of the tools that can help finish Russia's terrible war against Ukraine. He noted that the working group now has more than 60 members from different countries.
"These are the best experts working on sanctions against Russia to make the international sanction regime comprehensive," Michael McFol stressed. European journalists asked the group members questions related to the effectiveness of sanctions, their impact on Western countries, how the European states can increase pressure on Russia and help Ukraine, as well as for secondary sanctions.
Andriy Yermak noted that our state is actively working on the problem of bypassing restrictions and conducts a great diplomatic and geopolitical work. For his part, the deputy head of the Presidential Office Rostislav Shurma added that the issue of secondary sanctions is one of the main priorities for the Yermak-Macfola group for the next period, as it is the most effective means of combating the bypass of restrictions.
