"Meaning not even at a distance": the expert explained why Ukraine needs Taurus missiles (video)

The representative of the Army Research Center, Conversion and Disarmament Michael Samus suggested that the partners would provide these shells with a range of 300 kilometers instead of the promised 500. According to him, the missiles will help in the liberation of the Crimea and the elimination of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia.

Despite the alleged German decisions, the defenders are unlikely to transfer Taurus missiles with a range of 500 kilometers, since their export is prohibited by export control requirements. Only shells that hit up to 300 kilometers are allowed. The Deputy Director of the Center for Army Research, Conversion and Disarmament Mikhail Samus told this in a comment from Channel 24. "Especially Germany is very meticulous about the requirements of export control.

I do not know why there was a statement about 500 kilometers," he said. The expert explained that missiles with a range of 500 kilometers or more are only allowed for internal use. That is, Ukraine can produce and apply them independently. "I think it will still be 300 kilometers. In fact, it will be a supplement to the missiles that we have - Storm Shadow/Scalp Eg. There will be a Taurus that is very similar to these missiles," he suggested.

Samus emphasized that Taurus is a winged aviation -based rocket that allows you to beat for important purposes in the operational depth. With such shells, the forces of defense would be able to create obstacles for hostile logistics and make adjustments to the activities of Russian troops. Moreover, Taurus would help destroy command points and warehouses with ammunition of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

"Why we say that we need both German Taurus and the American ATACMS, which will also fly 300 kilometers in the export version - because we need such missiles a lot. The point is not even in the range," - added a representative of the Army Research Center , conversion and disarmament. He explained that Taurus missiles would be useful in the de -occupation of Crimea.

Thanks to them, the defenders would destroy the coastal infrastructure of the Black Sea Fleet and the elements of Russian invaders on the peninsula. However, such actions require a large number of shells - hundreds. "We expel it (the Black Sea Fleet - Ed. ) In the sea, to Novorossiysk, and there are already sea drones and anti -ship missiles that will destroy the ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the Black Sea," Samus said.

We will remind, on June 5, the Minister of Defense of Germany Boris Pistorius stated that the country does not plan to transfer Taurus missiles in the near future. However, on August 7, the People's Deputy and the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Yegor Chernev said that the Bundestag had reached an agreement on providing Taurus long -range missiles for defenders.
