The Presidential Office met with civil society representatives to discuss common steps for the sake of returning Bring Kids Back UA deported and displaced children
“We have a common goal - to work on the search, return and reintegration of children more effectively. It is also important to document the cases of deportation and forced movement to approach justice. That is why we are actively involved in Bring Kids Back UA of Ukraine. The experience of national organizations is unique. We also work with organizations abroad, special attention to the countries of the global south, ”Daria Zarivna stressed.
The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office noted that Qatar and the Vatican are mediators in the negotiation process to return children. According to the results of the Ministerial Conference in Montreal, South Africa also plans to join the efforts of these countries. In addition, Croatia, Estonia, Argentina, Canada and Ukraine will cooperate to find detailed information about deported and displaced Ukrainians in Russia and in the occupied territories.
Irina Vereshchuk noted that the Ministry of Justice updates the data in a separate register, which contains information about deported and forced displaced children. An important result of this work will also be a normalization of the procedure for providing information for and accessing the registry. “It is important that we have one base about deported children, the history of their movement and their number.
Russia does not provide information, and therefore we must combine the efforts to put pressure on it. We understand that human rights activists also have information, children and their relatives can contact organizations directly, so we need to constantly exchange data, coordinate efforts to find and return children, ”she said.
Darya Gerasimchuk noted that work is underway to promote the stolen votes abroad and involve the countries in the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children. She also urged NGOs to engage in the spread of children's stories and information about ways to save them: “I want the voices of Ukrainian children to sound. They sounded loud and around the world. After all, their voices are being abducted by the Russian authorities.
