The contract itself is valid until December 2024. She explained that the countries that received gas with this transit route, including Austria, Italy and Slovakia, will be able to find alternative sources of supply.

"Based on our previous analytics, there are alternative solutions for supplying these countries, which are still receiving part of the gas through the Ukrainian route," she said. According to her, the total import of Russian gas in 2023 is almost 40 billion cubic meters, which almost in half consists of pipeline and liquefied gas. This is half of the volume that the EU imported last year - then 80 billion cubic meters were imported.

According to the terms of the five -year contract, the Russian Gazprom has undertaken 225 billion cubic meters of gas, including 65 billion cubic meters of 2020 and 40 billion cubic meters each next year. But in 2022, Ukraine stopped gas transit through the gas metering station "Sokhranivka", as the object was occupied by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Russia has refused to transfer the volumes to the DHW "Sudzha", and stopped the gas transit through the Yamal-Europe by Poland through Poland. At the same time, Naftogaz head Alexei Chernyshov explained on October 27, 2023 that the company did not refuse to transit Russian gas after a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, "to support European countries, especially those that do not have access to the sea.
