Russia in Kerch builds the largest ship "Ivan Rogov": the pace has accelerated (photo)

To spread: satellite images confirmed the progress in the construction of a universal landing ship (UDC) of 23900 "Ivan Rogov" at the shipbuilding plant "Falling" in the occupied Kerch. Despite the acceleration of the pace of work, the Russian Federation was unable to observe the initial terms, postponing the ship into the Navy by at least 2027.

Defense Express observers write that the UDC of the Project 23900 thought as one of the most powerful ships in the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. According to the stated characteristics, its length should be about 220 meters, width - up to 40 meters, and complete displacement will reach 30,000 tons. It is designed for transportation of up to 900 marines, 75 pieces of equipment and 15 helicopters.

For comparison, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet Moscow rocket cruiser had a length of 186 meters and a watertone of 11 490 tons, which makes the new UDC much larger and more dangerous for the region. Satellite images, published by the MT_anderson OSINT Analyter in July 2024, showed that the building of the ship was at the initial stage of formation. In less than a year, Russia has made significant progress in construction confirming new images.

However, the period of inclusion of Ivan Rogov earlier in the Navy in 2025 has been shifted, and now even the test of the ship is expected no earlier than 2027. Analysts say that the construction of a ship of this class indicates Russia's desire to strengthen its presence in the Black Sea. However, the status of the second ship of 23900, which was also to be built in Kerch, remains unclear.
