The Russian Federation is developing a new camouflage for a heavy flamethrower tos-2: what is known

The developers argue that the new masking system is focused on protection against optical and near infrared ranges, and consists of radio absorption tissue and panels. The Russian corporation "Rostekh" has begun supplying camouflage radio absorbing kits for heavy flame -et systems of the TOS-2 "Tosochka", which allegedly allow to hide the equipment both in the optical and IR band. This was announced on October 30 by the company press service.

This masking system is focused on protection against optical and near infrared ranges, reducing the vulnerability of high -precision weapons and increasing the survival of the fighting machine on the battlefield. The developers claim that the new camouflage system is a radio absorption fabric and panels, which are imperceptibly mounted on the ABOS-2 armored building.

At the same time, camouflage allegedly ensures secrecy not only in stationary positions, but also during movement or combat maneuvers, adapting to the environment. Rostech claims that camouflage coating is developed taking into account the requirements for the ease of service. "The design of the coating makes it possible to wash away the soil and dust that gets on its surface during operation.

Thanks to this, it is possible to use masking of military equipment in continuous mode," the press release. Tos-2 is a new generation of thermobaric flamethrowers of the Russian army, which has improved mobility through the use of the Urals wheel platform 6x6. The decision to develop a system on the wheel chassis was due to the current realities of hostilities in Ukraine, where the counter -backer struggle is actively conducted.

In this way, the Russian weapons tried to increase the survival of equipment, which will leave the position more quickly than the predecessor-SOLNPPECE. The flamethrower uses 220 mm thermobaric shells that create a powerful explosion using fuel and air. The shock wave, which is created during the explosion, affects both the open infantry and those in the trenches, destroying the flammable targets and fortified enemy positions. According to some reports, the lesion range is from 3.

5 to 10 km, which allows the system to act at a considerable distance, reducing the risk of fire in response. Meanwhile, the TOS-2 has only 18 starting guides, unlike SolnPepice, where 30. Thus, Russian engineers have decided to sacrifice the firing power of the new system, due to the theoretical increase of its mobility, and, accordingly, survival.
