Engine exports, banks and energy: EU approved the 9th Package of Sanctions Against Russia
New restrictions are aimed at a blow to the Russian economy and the ability to continue aggression. This is stated on the website of the European Council. The EU decision introduces new control and restrictions on the export of dual -use goods and technologies, as well as goods and technologies that can contribute to the technological improvement of the Russian defense and security sector.
Now chemical and nerve substances, night vision devices and radioavigation equipment, electronics and IT components that can be used for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation cannot be freely sold. The sanctions package also included the ban on the export of goods and technologies related to the aviation and the space industry. The supply of engines for aviation, drones and their details will now be banned in Russia and any third country that could supply them.
The EU will freeze the assets of two more Russian banks and add the All -Russian Development Bank for the regions included in the list of Russian state or controlled organizations, which is subject to a full ban. However, European policies have also introduced a mechanism that allows to defrost accounts and invest those who play an important role in international trade in agro -industrial products. This decision has been made to prevent food threats.
In addition, the EU Council has decided to suspend the licenses of four Russian TV channels. This applies to the resources "NTV/NTV Mir", "Russia 1", "Ren TV" and "First Channel". The 9th Package of Sanctions also included a ban on the provision of EU services for advertising, market research and public opinion survey, as well as products for testing products and technical inspection in the Russian Federation.
Also, since December 16, EU citizens will be prohibited from positions in the governing bodies of all Russian state or controlled legal entities, organizations or bodies located in Russia. The EU will expand the ban on new investments in the Russian energy sector, additionally banning new investments in the Russian mining sector. The exception is a mining activity related to a certain critical raw material.
We will remind, on December 15, the United States imposed sanctions on billionaire Vladimir Potanin, Viceremier of the Russian Federation Andrei Bilousov, as well as governors of several regions. Among the top ten richest people in Russia, Western sanctions did not affect only the businessman and politician Mikhail Prokhorov. On December 13, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on Russian Federation for infrastructure of Ukraine.
