"Do not consider powerless": Germany threatens not to let athletes from the Russian Federation

Germany is looking at the opportunity not to give Russian athletes permission to enter the country if the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is allowed to competition.

This was stated by German Ministry of Internal Affairs Nancy Feser. "Countries in which major sports events occur are not powerless. They can control whether the Russians can participate in them by issuing visas," Feser said. She added that Germany's position on this issue would be clear if the country organizes international competitions. The German Ministry of Internal Affairs believes that to allow the competitions of such a level of athletes from Russia would be a "slap of Ukrainian athletes".

"To offer Putin's palima the propaganda scene would mean to betray all the values of sports," the minister said. By the way, on January 31, Latvia refused to participate in the Olympic Games with Belarus and Russia. As of today, the International Olympic Committee recommends that Russians and Belarusians be allowed to sports, but not those who support the war against Ukraine.
