"We are not standing in defense": Syrsky told what proportion of fights the Armed Forces are

According to him, statistics confirms: about 1/6–1/7 of all combat episodes on the front line are offensive or counter -offensive operations of the Ukrainian forces. "We adhere to the principle of never getting up in passive defense. Our defense is active," the head emphasized. He noted that the key role in such actions is played by assault units and landing troops. It is they who cause significant losses to the enemy and disrupt its plans.

Syrsky gave an example of defense Pokrovsk, where, according to him, the enemy expected to get the city last fall. Nevertheless, Ukrainian troops continue to hold positions. "If you calculate how many enemy has lost in the battles in this area, I think that the whole fields will be covered by the bodies of its military. Such a price of every meter of our land," he stressed.

The commander -in -chief specified that the active defense strategy will remain unchanged, but the details of future actions are not disclosed. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the most intense is the Pokrovsky direction (Donetsk region). Only in the last day did the Ukrainian soldiers repelled 58 attacks of the enemy's assault units. As Syrsk explained, Russian troops use "thousands of cuts" there, trying to break through the defense in small groups on the wide front.

The main goal of the enemy is to surround Pokrovsk agglomeration from the north and south, creating a kind of "vice".
