"Required Review": The EU has started an audit of armaments supplied by Ukraine, - FT

According to European diplomats, some EU countries do not want to provide full weapons data transferred to Kiev. The audit is carried out at a time when the European Union and the US are trying to find consensus for the allocation of new packages worth about $ 110 billion. Brussels conducts an audit how many weapons of the European Union have been provided to Ukraine.

This happens against the backdrop of statements that some states have not sent as much as they could, writes Financial Times on January 16. According to journalists, the audit is held at a time when the EU and the US are trying to find a political consensus that would help them approve new financial assistance packages of Kiev totaling about $ 110 billion.

Three European diplomats reported to the publication that the European Foreign Service (EEAAS) conducts a check of the weapons delivered to Ukraine after the start of a full -scale war. The results of the audit will be expected to be represented by European countries before the EU leaders summit on February 1. One diplomats noted that the audit would rely on the materials presented by EU Member States in response to EEAS requests.

According to sources, this initiative has already met with some countries who do not want to provide full data. The article states that the decision to conduct the audit followed by the request of German Chancellor Olaf Solz to calculate and compare military assistance to Ukraine. He stated that weapons for Ukraine, planned at this point by most EU countries, are too small.

"We also need an overview of what particular contribution our European partners will make in support of Ukraine this year," Scholt said. It is reported that the call of Scholz was supported by privately high -ranking officials in Brussels, who believe that some countries could transfer more weapons to Kiev.

We will remind, on January 15, the leader of the German opposition Friedrich Merz was concerned that Germany and other EU countries "negligently" refer to the possible re -election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. He also criticized the position of Scholz on the transfer of Taurus winged missiles to Ukraine.
