"In my daughter's class lives Labrador." Ukrainians whose children are studying abroad, compared local schools with Ukrainian
Most of them have received temporary protection in EU countries, and therefore, according to European rules, they should be educated in local educational institutions. Video of the NV Day spoke with the parents of those Ukrainian students who had already protested European education and learned how it was different from the domestic practice.
Elena Rudyakova has a twin daughter who attended a school in Burgvedel (Germany) when we came to Germany at the end of March for nine years, and they studied in the third grade of the Odessa Gymnasium. In a few weeks, the children went to a local school. In Germany, visiting the children of the school, especially in the young and middle age, is compulsory even for non -residents.
If the child does not go to school, the parents are fined for a decent amount, which is taken into account by thousands of euros. Therefore, the first thing we were designed after arrival were school documents for girls. Some German schools now have translators for Ukrainian children, but we are not so lucky. Although the language did not become a problem: with classmates of daughters, they became clear about a mixture of gestures and English, which teachers also turn to them.
Regarding the tasks, in the German school, unlike the Ukrainian, children do not write in clean notebooks by hand - they are given A4 sheets with pictures and printed tasks, where you just need to enter the answers. We drive it all through the translator using the camera on the phone. In German junior school among the list of subjects - mathematics, German and English, textiles (our work lessons), art (music) and sports (physical education).
In German lessons, in a separate audience, the daughters are given tablets with an interactive language learning. Instead, there are no problems with mathematics - in Ukrainian schools, daughters are accustomed to a more saturated program. Here they again translate cents into euros and decimeters into centimeters, although they took place at home a year ago. Interestingly, textiles for German children take place without division into boys and girls - everyone sew, embroider and knit.
And in addition to physical education, the schedule of German students included bicycle lessons three times a week. There is a practice when children have to come to school on bicycles, and there are lessons in theory - when they study traffic rules. Students go with the teacher on the guides and train to show their hands turning the cars. It was a pleasant surprise for me, because it is very useful here: in Germany, cyclists are at a level with motorists, they are taught from the first class.
They do not bring grades during training. Only in July we were given a sheet with a list of objects and points, and the lower the point - the better. For example, 1 is cool, 5 - you don't have time. These sheets also describe the psychological state of the child, his interaction with classmates and the teacher during the school year.
In general, the German younger education system in the lower grades emphasizes not so much on intellectual load as in Ukraine, but on the physical development of the child and on the grafting of her household skills. After each lesson, the children go to the playground, take bicycles, sometimes study in the forest, receive intense training in sports and regular hiking in the pool. Our schools usually do not have so much physical activity.
Maybe teachers in Germany are more relaxed, there is no tender here, everything does not need to be done strictly, quickly and much. On the contrary, there is condescension to childish wasteland. Therefore, daughters do not have fatigue from the school, although the summer vacations lasted only from July 15 to August 21. In Germany, the school year starts at the end of August, but there is no single September 1 - the day depends on each particular region, settlement and even schools.
Due to the fact that the German program does not have this brain tension, but there is a frequent change of the picture, my children are perceived as a training camp and waiting for the holidays to be eagerly. Therefore, the only difficulty is the language barrier that they cannot communicate with new friends even more.
Elena Ged has a daughter of six years old, who has been attending school in London (UK) with my daughter Maya, who will be seven years old in October, we have been living in London since early May. In Ukraine, the daughter went to the first class of the Music Lyceum, which brings together general and music programs. In the UK, Maya went to study at the nearest public school. We were helped by the host family who submitted the documents for enrollment in advance.
On the eve of the first school day, we were acquainted with a teacher and a tour. Usually in the UK in many schools there is a school uniform, but we are lucky, and we do not have it. Even in the UK there is a clear rule: children fall into class according to the age of the first of September, no exceptions.
