In Poland, a pro-Russian deputy was caught stealing from IKEA (photo)
In communication with the police, Berkovich did not talk about his party affiliation. The situation did not go unnoticed by Polish politicians. Even Donald Tusk, the country's prime minister, reacted to it. "One of the leaders of the Confederation, Berkovich, was caught while trying to steal from IKEA. Not so much compared to PiS (PiS, the "Law and Justice" party), but one has to start with something," he wrote in H.
Tusk's deputy, Roman Hertich, also unleashed his sarcasm towards the deputy: "If I were Mentzen (the leader of the "New Hope" party and one of the leaders of the Confederation of freedom and independence), the information that his deputy secretly steals a frying pan and towels would alarm me greatly.
What was he going to do with those pans and towels? Did IKEA's security service save the life of the president of New Hope by catching a would-be intruder? He even created the tag #PatelniaMentzena, which translates as Mentzen's frying pan. For his part, Slavomir Mentsen defended his colleague. "Konrad Berkovich made large purchases at IKEA. He paid at the self-service checkout with headphones. A small part of many products did not reach him, and he did not hear it through the headphones.
He immediately paid the fine, without taking advantage of the immunity," said the leader of the Confederation. He added that it is unwise to turn this "obvious mistake" into an attempted theft. " "And the attacks on him by politicians responsible for multimillion-dollar embezzlements are simply shameful," Mentzen emphasized. The person involved in the scandal did not remain silent either. Berkovich explained that he was wearing headphones and did not hear that some of the goods were not scanned.
He also lashed out at Hertykh: "I I take it you too were wearing headphones during the Polnord scandal, did a bunch of transactions and didn't notice that one suspicious 60 gallon? Because if you were like me today at the self-service checkout in a furniture store, I would give you back the remnants of your honor. " He also told Tusk.
"It's one thing to forget to scan something at the self-service checkout in a furniture store while wearing headphones and making a bunch of purchases, and quite another to deprive Poles of savings in the Amber Gold scandal. You, a lying cynic, are the last one who can accuse someone of "theft", Berkovich wrote.
It should be noted that the Polish political coalition "Confederation of Freedom and Independence" is often called pro-Russian due to its anti-Ukrainian rhetoric, Euroscepticism and negative attitude towards some issues of cooperation with Ukraine. It unites far-right and right-wing populist parties.
