Anti-aircraft missiles on Poltava and Dnipro: how Ukraine can shoot down aerial bombs of the Russian Armed Forces, analysts

Share: The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have modernized guided aerial bombs (UAVs), which were able to reach the rear cities of Ukraine at a distance of 200 km from the front line. To deal with this threat, it is not enough to have planes and air defenses, analysts explained.

What complex methods of combating CABs can Ukraine apply? The Russians have attached planning ("wings"), navigation and correction systems to air bombs, launching them from planes approaching a safe distance from the front line, the "Defense" portal explained. After the modernization, the updated KABs became a serious threat both on the battle line and in the rear, as they began to reach 200 km and are already flying to Poltava, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa and Mykolaiv.

The range depends, among other things, not only on the capabilities of the bomb, but also on the aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces: the higher and faster it flies, the farther the anti-aircraft missiles reach. The Armed Forces cannot shoot down such bombs en masse, but can use means of radio-electronic warfare. However, Ukraine has other additional tools, the article states that there are fewer guided aerial bombs.

On "Oborontsa" they listed the classification of Russian anti-tank defense systems and briefly described how they changed. It turned out that there are two main types of aerial bombs. The first type of UBAP, i. e. controlled planing air bomb (провравлемая планырующая авиационная бомба — Russian) is a means that from the beginning had wings and a control unit.

The second is a high-explosive aerial bomb that has been modernized and converted into a KAB and has a different weight depending on the total weight (FAB-250 — 250 kg, FAB-500 — 500 kg, etc. ). The media compared such bombs to 120 mm mortar shells and four kilograms of explosives. One FAB-500 with 195 kg of explosives is almost 50 mortar charges. "Two floors of the nearby entrance were demolished. And the second broke a hole between the 4th and 5th floors and fell down, and then detonated.

The gap after the KAB can be more than 7 meters wide and 4 meters deep. We almost ran into a car that night," Andriy "Otchenash", an officer of the "Rubizh" brigade, told "Oborontsi". On the portal, they told how you can fight with KABs: it turned out that there are more than two of these methods. At the same time, it is clarified that they can be shot down with anti-aircraft missiles, but this method is not used due to the exorbitant price.

On the DeepState map, you can mark the range of the modernized KABs mentioned in the article. Poltava is really within reach, if a plane of the Russian Armed Forces flies in from the Belgorod region. It should be noted that Focus wrote about the attacks of the Russian anti-terrorist missile defense system on Ukrainian cities, and in the fall, the Russian means of destruction were reaching further and further from the front line.

One such strike took place on October 10: the Russians launched a bomb on the Dnieper. The military expert explained that the probable use of the KAB, which releases the drone under the coordination of the Su-57. Another case is the attack on Mykolaiv. As the monitoring publications wrote, the means of destruction, a KAB of an unknown type, flew about 150 km and probably had a speed of 500 km/h: an explosion was heard in the city, but there was no information about the consequences.
