The Austrian owners of Raiffeisen Bank International regret that they will have ...

By the end of December 2023: Raiffeisen decided to stay in

The Austrian owners of Raiffeisen Bank International regret that they will have losses through the sale or branch of the Russian bank. The head of the Austrian Group of Companies Raiffeisen Bank International, Johan Strobl, stated that the company was carrying out the business of the group from Russia for half a year - by the end of December 2023. The details of the statement are reported in the message of the Interfax Agency.

The statement was heard during an online conference with analysts, the agency is reported. SEO RBI recalled that the company planned to carry out spin-off by the end of September 2023. However, the date was postponed: "Today it is unlikely," said the head of the Austrian company. The new spin-off date is late December 2023. It is noted that it is about the "potential" completion of business in the Russian Federation - it seems that this issue has not yet been resolved.

There is also an explanation for the reasons for delay: they expect more information over the next "couple of weeks". Moreover, Strobl explained that they are considering an alternative to exit - the sale of assets in Russia. In his opinion, this is even a more likely option. According to him, in Russia there are those who want to buy Raiffeisen Bank, but noted that the offered price will cause losses to the Austrian company.

It should be noted that spin-off is one of the types of reorganization, when one of the units is separated from the main company: this unit begins to function as a separate business. We will remind, NAPC called the Austrian company Raiffeisen Bank with an international sponsor of war.

It is indicated that this financial institution is a circle of interests of the Putin oligarchs of Arcadia and Boris Rottenberg, in 2022 paid half a billion rubles of taxes in the Russian budget, gives the military of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation credit vacations and operates in the occupied units of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Raiffeisen, a group of companies - in addition to the banking sector, there is still leasing and insurance.

The sanctions are imposed only on Raiffeisen-Lising LLC and only Ukraine. Due to sanctions to the Maternal Bank (due to the presence in the Russian Federation), the Ukrainian "Raiffeisen Bank" lost the opportunity to participate in the government program "5-7-9%", which aims to issue preferential loans to Ukrainian business.
