Putin destroys the people: the US Senate considers the actions of Russian military genocide of Ukrainians

Members of the Senate Committee on International Relations drew attention to the cruelty of the invaders in the Kiev region and called for the tribunal. Moscow considers attempts to judge Russian officials with a threat to humanity. The US Senate Committee on International Relations recognized the actions of Russia and its military in Ukraine as a genocide against the Ukrainian people. The Senate members will now vote for the resolution, the Committee's press service said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, with his actions and words, clearly outlined military goals-the destruction of the Ukrainian people, said the Republican Senator Jim Rish. "I saw with my own eyes his cruelty in Irpen and Kyiv region. We must do our best to support the Ukrainian people in his struggle for survival," he said. Senator-democrat Ben Cardin agreed with him.

In his view, the crimes of the Russian army against Ukrainians are contrary to international conventions and are defined solely by the concept of genocide. "The Ukrainian people have demonstrated the determination in reflecting the attack. The innocent and in the future die until Russia understands the consequences of their vile actions," Cardin said.

The approved document condemns Russia for genocide acts against the people of Ukraine, calling the United States and its NATO allies to support Kyiv to prevent the killings of Ukrainians. The resolution contains a call for the tribunal and an international investigation of Russian leaders and military actions. US President Joe Baiden is asked to apply the Global Magnistky Magnitsky Law on those involved in genocide in Ukraine.

The document was supported by 14 other democrat senators and republicans. In particular, Democrat Richard Blumental, Republican Rob Portman, Democrat Gin Shahin, Republican Lindsey Graham and others. The decision of the US Senate Committee on International Relations was commented on the head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

"The resolution condemns an active genocide against the Ukrainian people, urging the US government to cooperate with allies to prevent future acts of genocide. The document is now put on a general vote to the Senate," he wrote in Telegram. In Russia, Western leaders' statements about genocide in Ukraine are considered "meaningless distortions of facts. " "For the sake of justification of Russophobia, legislators distort the wording of the UN documents . . .

Eight years American parliamentarians have ignored the suffering of Donbass residents. The Capitol Hill has long been transformed into a conveyor to reproduce anti -Russian initiatives," the Russian Embassy in the USA said. The Chairman of the Council of the Odina Rossius Party Dmitry Medvedev stated that such statements were "meager from a legal point of view and false in fact".

The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak said that Russia seeks to destroy Ukraine as a state and kill Ukrainians. It should be reminded that at the end of November in the Bundestag recognized the Holodomor with the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Germany stated that the responsibility for the Holodomor lies on the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
