Only 10% of Europeans believe in the victory of Ukraine in the war - a survey

In all European countries, the most common opinion, which is shared by about 37% of respondents, is that the war will end with a "compromise settlement. " Ukraine's support among European citizens remains significant, but almost two years after the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, only 10% of Europeans believe that Ukraine can defeat Russia.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Institute of Public Opinion of YouGov at the request of the European Council on International Relations (ECFR), writes the British edition of The Guardian. The survey was conducted in January 12 by EU member countries, including France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

Such pessimistic moods about the outcome of the war are caused by the stop of Ukraine's counter -offensive, increasing fears of changing US policy and the prospect of Donald Trump's second presidential term. According to a survey, only one of the 10 surveyed Europeans believed that Ukraine would win the battlefield, while twice as many (20%) were leaning toward Russia's victory.

Even in the "most optimistic" countries - Poland, Sweden and Portugal - less than one of five respondents (17%) believed that Ukraine would be able to win. The most common opinion in all countries (it is thanked an average of 37% of respondents) was that the war would end with a "compromise settlement.

" Responds in Sweden (50%), Portugal (48%) and Poland (47%) were more likely to believe that Europe should help Ukraine repel, while in Hungary (64%), Greece (59%), Italy (52 %) and Austria (49%), respondents preferred Kiev to agree to settle. In France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, thoughts have been divided more evenly. In addition, the survey demonstrated that many Europeans are increasingly believed that Russia's war against Ukraine is directly concerning their themselves.

33%said it has a greater impact on their country - and on Europe (29%) - than the war in the Middle East (compared to 5%who said the opposite). We will remind, almost 40% of the Germans believe that Germany provides too much military assistance to Ukraine. This is evidenced by the polls conducted by the Institute for the study of the public opinion of MOGOV, which were published on February 9.
