In Washington, a meeting of the US Presidential Administration and 12 leading defense companies in the country took place, where they discussed the prospects for weapons production for Ukraine. Reuters writes about it. The agency notes that at the meeting, conquered by President Joe Baiden's adviser, Jake Sullivan, enterprises of different directions of the American military-industrial complex were present.
Among the participants of the agency's insiders named Palantir Technologies and Anduril Industries, which mostly specialize in defense computer systems, as well as Fortem and Skydio, which are engaged in drones and fight against them. "The conversation has been focused on a number of systems, including unmanned aviation systems, on how to resist unmanned aviation systems, as well as to solve the demining problem," said one of the White House officials.
In general, according to Reuters, the participants of the meeting discussed how Washington could provide Kiev additional military assistance to achieve "restoration of emphasis in Ukraine and overcoming a number of key technological problems that they have identified as holding back its progress and dynamics on the battlefield" . The sources of the Agency in the White House say that the United States is trying to expand Ukraine's access to the most modern American technologies.
At the same time, representatives of the Presidential Administration stated that the meeting on Monday, January 8, gave them the opportunity to learn about the new opportunities for the US defense industry and about the ways of introducing these innovations in Ukraine. The Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces, General Valery Zaluzhny in November 2023, in his essay for The Economist, named the main advantages that the Ukrainian army should possess to win the Russian aggressor.
The commander -in -chief explained that the Armed Forces needed "key military opportunities and technologies" and listed five main points: representatives of the US Presidential Administration stated that the meeting in the White House is not related to the December Agreement on accelerating the joint production of weapons and the exchange of data between the US Ukraine.
Recall that during his last visit to the United States in early December 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the heads of American defense companies. The meeting discussed the issues of Ukraine's rich practical experience in the defense sphere gained during the war, as well as the potential of Kiev in increasing the production of ammunition and military equipment with the support of foreign companies.
In addition, President Zelensky suggested to create a defense hub in Europe, which will be based in Ukraine. We will remind, on January 7, US President Joe Biden urged members of the Republican Party in Congress to approve additional financing, including more than $ 60 billion for Ukraine.
