"Meat storms" or a new quality of the army: why the scandal broke up around the assault troops

To spread: In Ukraine, the assault troops will officially appear in two weeks. President Zelensky calls it a necessary step for the strengthening of the front, but there is no unity among military and experts: some see the logical development of the army in the new structure, others - the risk of chaos and the weakening of DShV. The focus found out why the idea was being controversy and whether it would really make the Armed Forces more effective.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that in two weeks in Ukraine will legally create assault troops. According to him, the assault battalions and regiments created in 2025 showed high results. Russia copied this system, which was one of the reasons for the legal registration of assault troops in Ukraine. "We will now make some assault troops, this decision is made. Everything is preparing now, and I think, for about a week - ten days and everything will work.

Modern assault troops with a drone component, with everything else. Well, they work together today, the assault regiments from DShV perform strong tasks," the president said. People's Deputy Marian Bezugla criticized the initiative of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces Alexander Sirsky on the creation of assault troops, calling it a fake, which covers the destruction of landing troops and the introduction of a Russian "meat" approach.

In her opinion, Syrsky systematically weakens DShV to form a loyal units that cover his mistakes at the cost of human lives. In particular, the land troops, according to the Ugregu, are inferior to the quality of training and management, especially at the level of command. There is constant competition between these troops where "landings" put pressure on DShV, trying to weaken their role.

This is manifested in attempts to limit the resources for DSB and to diminish their achievements, which weakens the overall combat capability of the Armed Forces. Also, in the opinion, the DShV was always famous for strong and charismatic commanders who formed effective combat teams. Syrsky, according to the deputy, purposefully eliminates such leaders.

Instead of the development of DSBs, which have high combat capability, Syrsky, according to the Ugreza, spends resources on the creation of parallel structures, which leads to the loss of territories and human lives. "The commander-in-chief has not abandoned the institutional curtailment of the DShV and continues the practice that is more similar to the Soviet-Russian approach: to close their mistakes with mobilized bodies," the politician sums up.

Also, military correspondent Bogdan Miroshnikov warns that the idea of creating assault troops with direct subordination of the commander -in -chief can make the situation in the Armed Forces. According to him, there is now a corps reform that aims to arrange a team hierarchy, reduce chaos and avoid the use of "downed" units. New assault forces that will bypass the corps and group commands contradict this effort and risk restoration of uncontrolled and duplication of functions.

Miroshnikov adds that instead it is necessary to develop DShV and use them for maneuvers and landing storms, not to create parallel structures. The Deputy Commander of the 241 Territorial Defense Brigade "Phantom" Fandetsky expresses support for the initiative to create individual assault troops in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, this decision is a logical and long -term step that reflects the adaptation of the Armed Forces to the challenges of the modern war.

Fandetsky explains that in the conditions of long positional battles, assault battalions and regiments are the key to success: they are storming, counterattack, stripping and helping stabilize the front. The effectiveness of such operations, he says, depends not only on the courage of the fighters, but on quality planning, equipment and coordination with other troops.

The selection of storms into a separate type will allow to unify training, tactics and provision, increasing their effectiveness and reducing the risks. Fandetsky also criticizes labels like "meat storms", calling them harmful rhetoric, which fuels hostile propaganda, and accuses their authors of the role of "useful idiots". Military expert Oleg Zhdanov is skeptical about the creation of a separate assault troops in Ukraine.

According to him, this initiative does not make sense, because the Armed Forces already have landing troops and special operations created on the basis of special forces.   "Why duplicate structures. This may be due to the distribution of positions or other opaque motives. Creating assault troops can lead to the redistribution of the tasks of DShV and SCO, which will only complicate the management and coordination of them," the expert said.

Zhdanov does not see clear tasks for new troops and believes that their formation will not add efficiency of the Armed Forces, but will only strengthen the bureaucracy. He calls for the expediency of such a decision to avoid chaos in the army structure. We will remind, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is preparing new attacks. The focus understood which areas of the front were the threat of breakthrough.
