Now Wagner is also: Putin has intensified punishment for discrediting the army of the Russian Federation

The law will protect not only personnel military and mobilized, but also "volunteers" and mercenaries of Wagner PEC, which help to wage war in Ukraine. In Russia, punishment for the discredit of the army is increased. The relevant decree signed by President Vladimir Putin was placed on the State Portal. The document amends the already available Article 20. 3. 3 of the Code on Administrative Offenses and Article 280.

3 of the Criminal Code, which provide for the "discrediting" of the army, as well as Article 207 of the Criminal Code on public distribution of clearly false information on the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. From now on, Russia will be punished for information not only about personnel servicemen and mobilized, but also about all "volunteer formation", organizations and persons who help the Russian army to wage war in Ukraine.

So the law will protect the Wagner PEC and other mercenaries. After the changes in the case, the maximum punishment for "discrediting" will increase from five to seven years in prison. The punishment for the spread of "fakes" for ordinary citizens was increased from three to five years, with the maximum term under Article 207 of the Criminal Code remained unchanged - up to 15 years of colony.

According to the Russian edition of "New Time", the Russian authorities consider "lies" any information that is different from the reports of the Ministry of Defense of the country. In particular, misinformation was recognized as reports of blows to the maternity and dramatic theater in Mariupol, as well as the murder of civilians of Ukraine.

In January, the founder of the Wagner PEC Yevgeny Prigogin complained that some media and bloggers were "detrimental to volunteer discredit" and asked to terminate such attempts. Soon, the head of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin instructed the profile committees to prepare legislative corrections. On March 16, it was reported that Samara MP Mikhail Abdalkin was fined for discrediting the army of the Russian Federation.
