Vitaliy Portnikov journalist the leader of the Russian Communists Gennady Zyugan...

Zyuganov wants to fight. What does it mean?

Vitaliy Portnikov journalist the leader of the Russian Communists Gennady Zyuganov from the Tribune of the State Duma called for a "special operation" against Ukraine with war and stated that in this war Russia should "win". This rhetoric of the communist leader is reminiscent of the role that the party headed by him has played all decades of its rule in the Soviet Empire.

But even after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the prohibition of the CPSU, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, headed by Gennady Zyuganov, became one of the main great -state forces of the country, - writes Vitaliy Portnikov for Crimea. Video Day Cardboard "Internationalism" of the Bolsheviks was "reborn" by the Communists. I am sure that the CPRF now looks like a wonderful symbiosis of Bolshevism and chauvinism, which no longer needs to hide.

It was the Communists that in the 1990s opposed the independence of Ukraine and other former Soviet republics, adopted a resolution on the "Russian status" of Sevastopol in the Verkhovna Rada of the Russian Federation, called for the occupation of Crimea.

When asked what would be if Gennady Zyuganov would become President of the Russian Federation in 1996 - and he was then a real competitor of the current President of the country Boris Yeltsin - I would invariably answer that Putin's policies would start much earlier. The Russian authorities, which was established under democratic slogans and recognized the sovereignty of neighboring countries, took time to make a terrible dandelion from democracy to authoritarianism and aggression.

Gennady Zyuganov, I think, would not need any "extra time". He had already exploited nostalgia on the Soviet Union, and was ready for revenge. And, perhaps that is Yeltsin very much wanted to beat Zyuganov on his field. It is from here - strange statements about the Crimea, support of the Kremlin's dictatorial stations of young Alexander Lukashenko, signing with the Belarusian President of the Agreements on the "Union State" and economic preferences that helped Minsk to abandon economic reforms.

Yeltsin, perhaps, very much wanted to show the Russian voter that his competitor Zyuganov only speaks of the restoration of the Soviet Union, and he, Yeltsin, has already become the construction of a "union state", albeit a slow pace. But in those days, all this could seem first and foremost a political struggle.

Now the CPRF leader is a trubadur of a real war, he calls for his compatriots to agree with the very fact of military confrontation, to participate in it, to finance the war with their own taxes and to enjoy it. The frosty winter evening of 1993 and I and I returned from the Kremlin, where there was then the shooting of a television show dedicated to the first elections to the State Duma in the history of modern Russia.

The triumphant in these elections was the Vladimir Zhirinovsky LDPR party, that is when the prophetic words of the dissident Yuri Karyakin were heard "Rosie, you were fooled!". Zyuganov ironically asked me if I understood that the Communists were not the worst. I did not answer anything - I was crushed by Zhirinovsky's victory, because I understood exactly what catastrophe we would still have to go through.

And the ice was terrible, it was only necessary to watch, so as not to fall or turn the neck, not to discuss the communist leader.

But now I will answer you, Gennady Andriyovich: Isn't you as much as Zhirinovsky as Putin, like Stalin, like Hitler? How did all politicians whose purpose was not to create but destroy and destroy? Is your imaginary competition with the LDPR or the "only Russia" is not as a competition near the victim's body: who will shoot the first, but who will make a "control" shot? Did you not prove it with your speech from the state Duma podum? Published with the permission of Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe, 2101 Connecticut Avenue, Washington 20036, USA.
