"At least one year": The Ministry of Justice told when Ukraine will receive monetary compensations from the Russian Federation

Payments of compensation to Ukrainian citizens and enterprises will be made at the expense of assets of the Russian Federation. For this purpose, the International Register of Losses caused to Ukraine during the war will be created. Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Irina Wise howled that work is being done in three main areas to receive financial compensation from the Russian Federation. The sources of payments will be both sovereign and private Russian assets.

The Deputy Minister told this on the national telephone. The first direction in which the Ministry is conducted with the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution. In addition, the Ministry of Justice initiated the creation of an International Register of losses that would document the loss or damage to compensate for the losses caused by war. Irina Wise emphasizes that Ukraine is actively cooperating with European states on this issue.

She also mentioned negotiations with EU countries about financing this initiative. Regarding the second direction, the department is working on the creation of a multilateral international treaty. Thanks to this document, Russian assets will be able to go to the compensation fund. In addition, a special commission will be created on the basis of the contract. The third direction is working with the countries that Ukraine sees potential participants in this Agreement.

Irina Wise noted that working in all three areas will allow Ukraine to receive payment from the Russian Federation. "The process of creating an International Register of Losses is the first step towards creating a compensation mechanism - has begun. Our vision is to work within half a year," the Deputy Minister of Justice reports. Irina Wise also believes that it will take at least one year to ratify the compensation agreement.
