Russia has resumed flights of aircraft of far reconnaissance A-50U after losing two cars

According to the Army Recognition resource, it may indicate the continuation of radar intelligence in the region and possible preparation for large -scale operations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The observers say that it is unclear whether one plane with long departments between departures operate in the region, or in the sky is rotating two or three aircraft.

However, in any case, the appearance of A-50U in the sky can be prepared for a large-scale operation of the Russian forces, because compared to reconnaissance UAVs, DRLV aircraft ensure higher accuracy of guidance on the target and monitoring of the battlefield. From the beginning of the full-scale war, the Russian A-50U suffered significant losses. On January 14, 2024, the A-50 "Sergey Asiance" (Bort # 37) was shot down by the MIM-104C rocket in Berdyansk.

Another car (board # 42) was destroyed on February 23 in the Krasnodar region as a result of friendly fire. A year earlier, on February 26, 2023, in the Belarusian stepmother, the drone attacked another A-50 aircraft. These blows greatly influenced the coordination of Russian aviation operations, forcing tactics and strengthening the protection of such machines with the help of Su-30cm fighters.

In addition, against the background of these losses, Rostech corporation has taken up the production of upgraded A-50U. According to Russian sources, machines have received updated data processing systems and improved radars with an active phased antenna lattice (AFFA), capable of fixing even inconspicuous goals, including ATCMS missiles and Ukrainian winged Scalp-EG missiles.
