According to the People's Deputy of Ukraine, Secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko in an interview on the YouTube channel "Great Lviv", Russian troops purposefully attack the railway infrastructure to paralyze the transport system of the state. The politician noted that the transport network is one of the main goals of the enemy. "The Russians also set our railway for themselves.
They want to make it cease to function," Kostenko said. He explained that Russian troops were struck by key infrastructure sites, trying to block the transportation of people and goods. "They strike for critical railways for this, to stop them," the People's Deputy added. Kostenko stressed that the Ukrainian side is taking measures to strengthen the protection of strategic transport units.
"So now everything is being done to protect such strategic objects here, because it is a goal for them - our railway. It is logistics, they understand, it is transportation. They understand how important it is for the country," the parliamentarian emphasized. From the first days of a full -scale war, the Ukrainian railway remains one of the key elements of the state's logistics, providing transportation of military goods, humanitarian assistance and evacuation of civilians.
